The AVR's central location
The AVR GmbH is at home in Jülich. The surrounding country includes Charlemagne's former capital of Aachen to the west, to the north the Land capital Düsseldorf, and to the east the city of Cologne with Germany's best-known architectural monument, Cologne Cathedral. Its central situation in the heart of Europe, in close proximity to European cities such as Amsterdam and Brussels, Luxemburg or Paris offers the opportunity for numerous worthwhile trips to our nearby foreign neighbours.
But not only is it worthwhile to travel abroad - coal extraction at the Hambach open-cast site, right next door, with all its changes in infrastructure, from the opening up of huge areas followed by renaturation is also worth a visit.
