The Information Centre

The entrance of the information centre

In the information centre of the EWN GmbH visitors have the opportunity to get an overview about the work of the company on the basis of models and information boards.

Our information centre is open from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., from April to October also at the weekends (exception: public holidays of the Land of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania).

We offer to our visitors:
  • to answer questions by competent employees
  • lectures on the former assignments of the EWN GmbH and its tasks in future (by appointment only and in connection with the guided tour through unit 6)
  • guided tour through unit 6
  • to show films about the dismantling of the NPP Greifswald, the building and the operation of the Interim Storage North
  • leaflets and brochures about the company and its activities

Models of the conventional part of the power plant

In the exhibition room some models of components are arranged clearly. There you can see for example models of the site, of the fuel elements and one of the CASTOR-cask for nuclear fuel as well as a small copy of the reactor building of unit 5. Original components from the plant as the steam generator, the turbine blade and parts of the reactor building's wall can be visited in front of the information centre.

From the information boards, the brochures and the flyers you can get to know more about:
  • energy conversion and the environment
  • the history of nuclear energy
  • the technology of the NPP Greifswald with Russian pressurized water reactors
  • the remote dismantling of reactor pressure vessels and internals
  • disposal of nuclear fuel
  • the interim storage of radioactive material
  • how the know-how is used in the subsidiary companies
  • international projects (for example the disposal of Russian nuclear submarines)
  • site reuse

 

There are seats for 40 visitors available in the presentation room.
