Group of visitors in unit 6

It is possible to visit the nuclear plant during the opening times of the information centre (by appointment only). The visits are connected with an introductory lecture.

The unit 6 of the former Greifswald Nuclear Power Plant was almost completed in 1990. It was not loaded yet with nuclear fuel and therefore it can be visited without any radiation protection measures. In the framework of the EXPO 2000 in Hannover the guided tour was organized as a part of the exhibition.

During the tour, which will take you approximately one hour, we will show you for example:
  • an airlock to the compartment system
  • the room for the steam generators
  • the room for the air conditioning of the hermetics
  • the room for operating the motors of the reactor coolant pump and the main isolation valve
  • the pressurizer
  • a sensor room for the monitoring of the primary circuit
  • the wet condensation system in the reactor building of the NPP unit
  • and the reactor of unit 6.
Conditions (visitors stay on the company's property during the guided tour):
  • visits only by appointment
  • visitors have to be at least 14 years old
  • suitable footwear (no high heels!)
  • it is necessary to give your personal data at least 3 days before visiting the plant
Further information on the visitor's tour:
