After the emptying of the store for solid and liquid radioactive operational waste (ALfR) had been completed in October 1998, the dismantling of equipment as well as the demolition of the first buildings (concrete monolith and waste oil store) started at the ALfR site.
Since the reopening of the final store Morsleben (ERAM) in the year 1994 until its closing in autumn 1998, 1,000 m³ of operational waste was disposed of there. The remaining 510 m³ operational waste that had been stored in the ALfR, was or will be stored in the Interim Storage North (ISN).

The demolition of the concrete monolith, of the waste oil store, and of the car- and container wash was finished in the years 2000 and 2001.
The dismantling of the ALfR-solid demanded its exposure and housing, under which the building structures could be demolished. The left building pit was filled afterwards.
The dismantling of the ALfR-liquid started with the disassembling of facilities and equipment. The container linings were dismantled. The rooms overground could be demolished without housing after they had been free measured.
After the rooms 002/1 and 002/2 of the ALfR-liquid had been exposed the protective housing was set up and the dismantling of the rooms 002 started in March 2008.
