In April 1995 the responsible nuclear authority, the Ministry for Environment, Environmental Protection and Environmental Planning of the Land of Brandenburg issued the license for the decommissioning and partial dismantling of the Rheinsberg NPP. Based on this and other licenses the following activities were executed:
From July 1995 until December 1997 the secondary circuit in the turbine hall and centre building was dismantled.
During May 1997 until August 1998 the main equipment of the primary circuit (steam generator and main circulation pump including pipelines and steal constructions) was dismantled. Until 2002 the dismantling of primary circuit auxiliary systems followed (for example closed air cooling system, additional make-up system, and intermediate cooling circuit).
